Manual Butterfly Valves, also known as butterfly valve, Flip Valve or Manual Clamp Butterfly Valve, are a type of simply structured control valve. They offer advantages such as a straightforward design, compact size, light weight, and material efficiency. However, for large-diameter valves where a low flow resistance coefficient is required, general automatic control valves are not preferred. Common materials used for manual butterfly valves include cast iron, carbon steel, and stainless steel.

I. Cast Iron: Cast iron can be further classified into gray cast iron, malleable cast iron, ductile cast iron, and nickel cast iron. Here, we will focus on the most commonly encountered types: gray cast iron and ductile cast iron.

Manual Butterfly Valve Types made of gray cast iron should not be used with media such as hydrochloric acid or nitric acid. However, they can be used in concentrated sulfuric acid environments because concentrated sulfuric acid forms a passivation film on the surface of gray cast iron, preventing further corrosion.

Ductile Cast Iron: Also abbreviated as ductile iron, common grades include QT400-15 and QT450-10. Ductile iron is generally suitable for operating conditions with a pressure PN≤25kg and an operating temperature range of -10°C to 300°C, with applicable media including steam, general gases, and oils. Ductile iron manual butterfly valves outperform gray cast iron valves in terms of performance, offering improved corrosion resistance and the ability to operate in environments with certain concentrations of sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and acidic salts.

II. Carbon Steel: Common carbon steel grades include WCA, WCB, and WCC.

III. Stainless Steel: Common stainless steel grades include 304, 316, and 316L. Stainless steel is the highest-performing material among those mentioned and also the most expensive.
