Advantages

1.Low Flow Resistance: The internal medium passage of the Valve Body is straight-through, allowing the medium to flow in a straight line, which results in low flow resistance.
2.Less Effort Required for Opening and Closing: Compared with globe valves, less effort is needed during the opening and closing process. This is because, whether opening or closing, the movement direction of the gate plate is perpendicular to the direction of medium flow.
3.Large Height and Long Opening/Closing Time: The gate plate has a relatively large opening and closing stroke, which is achieved through the screw rod.
4.Less Prone to Water Hammer Phenomenon: This is due to the long closing time.
5.Bidirectional Flow and Easy Installation: The medium can flow in either direction through the two sides of the gate valve channel, as the channel is symmetrical on both sides, making installation convenient.
6.Small Structural Length: (Structural length refers to the distance between the two connecting end faces of the valve body.
7.Sealing Surfaces Prone to Wear, Affecting Service Life: During opening and closing, the two sealing surfaces of the gate plate and the Valve Seat rub and slide against each other. Under the action of medium pressure, abrasion and scoring are likely to occur, which affects the sealing performance and shortens the service life.
8.Relatively High Price: There are many contact sealing surfaces, and the machining process is complex. In particular, the sealing surface on the gate plate seat is difficult to machine, and there are many components.

9.Compact Structure, Good Valve Rigidity, Smooth Channel, Low Flow Resistance Coefficient: The sealing surfaces are made of stainless steel and hard alloy, ensuring a long service life. PTFE packing is used, providing reliable sealing, and the operation is light and flexible.

Disadvantages

The sealing surfaces are prone to erosion and scoring, making maintenance relatively difficult.
The overall dimensions are relatively large, requiring a certain amount of space for opening. The opening and closing time is long, and the structure is relatively complex.
