Its structure features an integral flange housing—typically stainless steel or carbon steel—permanently fused with a flexible elastomer duckbill sleeve (EPDM, PTFE, or nitrile), eliminating potential leak points between separate flange and Valve components.​

The integral design ensures uniform pressure distribution across the flange face, handling higher pressures than non-integral variants, making it ideal for industrial pipelines, water treatment plants, and marine systems. Unlike assembled flange valves, its one-piece construction reduces installation errors and enhances long-term reliability, critical for high-pressure or corrosive media applications.​

Operation relies on the duckbill sleeve’s inherent flexibility: forward flow pressure opens the slit for media passage, while reverse pressure collapses the sleeve to form a tight seal, preventing backflow without mechanical parts.
