Does temperature have a big impact on the performance of flexible metal hose?

The influence of temperature on the performance of Flexible Metal Hose is mainly reflected in the following aspects:
1.Corrosion resistance: Changes in temperature will affect the corrosiveness of the conveying medium, thereby affecting the corrosion resistance of the Metal Hose. Especially in high temperature environments, metal hoses are more susceptible to corrosion, which will shorten their service life.
2.Mechanical properties: High temperature will cause the mechanical properties of flexible metal hose materials to deteriorate. For example, stainless steel hoses may experience stress corrosion at high temperatures, leading to cracking or bursting. In addition, excessive temperature may also lead to reduced cutting performance and processing accuracy of hose materials.
3.Working pressure: Increased temperature will reduce the working pressure bearing capacity of metal hoses. For example, some stainless steel hoses need to reduce their rated working pressure according to the correction factor at high temperatures to ensure safe use. Similarly, PTFE lined metal hoses also need to halve their working pressure at high temperatures.
4.Thermal expansion and contraction: Metal hoses are susceptible to thermal expansion and contraction in high or low temperature environments, which may cause deformation or damage to the hose. Therefore, appropriate insulation measures need to be considered during design and installation.
5.Service life: Long-term exposure to extreme temperatures will significantly shorten the service life of metal hoses. For example, although stainless steel hoses have good high temperature resistance, long-term exposure to extreme temperatures may still affect their performance and life.
6.Chemical compatibility: The chemical compatibility of flexible metal hoses with the conveying medium will also change at different temperatures. For example, at high temperatures, some stainless steel hoses may undergo electrochemical reactions with the conveying medium, thus affecting their corrosion resistance and safety.
Temperature has a significant impact on the corrosion resistance, mechanical properties, working pressure, thermal expansion and contraction, service life, and chemical compatibility of metal hoses. Therefore, when selecting and using metal hoses, it is necessary to determine the appropriate temperature range based on the specific working environment and medium properties, and take appropriate protective measures to ensure its safety and long-term stable operation.
