Can bellow expansion joint and metal hose replace each other?

In gas pipeline design, two common types of Expansion Bellows are used to eliminate both internal pipeline stress and external imposed forces:

Bellow Expansion Joints:
Bellows primarily eliminate longitudinal stress. For example, in high-rise building designs, it is advisable to install bellows before the ball Valve on the inlet pipe (along the gas flow direction). This mainly serves to prevent damage to the pipe caused by building settlement. For buried pipelines, Bellows Type Expansion Joint should also be installed before the valve to avoid harm to the system due to thermal expansion and contraction of the pipe itself. Additionally, installing Corrugated Compensator facilitates easy disassembly of ball valves.

2.Flexible Metal Hose:
Metal hoses can eliminate both longitudinal and transverse stress. For instance, when a gas pipeline needs to be elevated between two adjacent buildings with different foundations, it is best to install metal hoses in the middle. This primarily prevents damage to the pipeline caused by differential settlement of the two buildings.

3.Pipe Bending as Compensation:
Creating bends in the pipeline can also eliminate stress and serve as a form of compensation. For example, a Z-shaped bend can function similarly to a Metal Hose.
